• About 5,405 students of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, received their first degree certificates during the 27th convocation ceremony of the institution held this week.

    Speaking at the pre-convocation media briefing, the University Vice–Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ganiyu Olatunde, said fifteen of the graduating students bagged first class degrees.

    Elaborating further on the results, the VC said 531 students graduated with second class upper while 2,673 made second class lower. He added that 1159 graduands bagged third class degrees while a further 1,027 came out with pass degrees.

    Prof. Olatunde revealed that 74 students will graduate from their Doctorate degree studies while another 105 will bag Master degree with one person in the Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) category.

    The Vice Chancellor also disclosed that four distinguished Nigerians would be conferred with honorary Doctorate Degrees of the institution for their contributions to the development of Nigeria and humanity.

    The awardees are the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, Chairman of First Bank PLC, Mrs Ibukun Awosika, foremost Nigerian banker, entrepreneur, philanthropist and investor,  Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, and one other.
