• No fewer than 64 students of Obong University, Obong Ntak, who have been found worthy in character and in learning, after completing their academic programme, will on Saturday 21st November, 2015, receive first degree in various disciplines from the institution.

    Of the 64 students, one is graduating with first class in Economics, 24 students in second class upper category, 37 with second class lower, and 2 with third class.

    Briefing newsmen on Thursday at the school campus, Vice Chancellor of Obong University, Prof. Udoudo Ekanemesang, said two individuals would also be honoured at the Convocation for their contributions to societal development.

    They are the Paramount Ruler of Ibiono Ibom in Akwa Ibom State, Edidem Ime Udousoro Inyang, who would be conferred with Doctor of Science in Public Administration, Honoris Causa and Prof. Douglas Boateng, a Ghanaian and Chancellor of Knutsford University College, Ghana, Doctor of Science in Management, Honoris Causa.

    The Vice Chancellor said the Convocation will be preceded by a lecture on Friday, 20th November, at 2pm to be presented by the Chancellor of Leeds City University, Ibadan, Prof. Gabriel Ogumola on the “Role of Government in Developing and Sustaining Public Universities.”

    He said the lecture will be chaired by Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Education, Elder Aniekan Akpan.

    Prof. Ekanemesang listed the 10 courses offered by the Obong University as Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics, International Relations, Microbiology, Sociology, Peace and Conflicts Resolution, Public Administration and Political Science.
